This Friday evening, the first Wallingford Community Kitchen of 2011 will feature chef and local cooking instructor Patrice Savery leading a celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Savery is Kitchen Lab Coordinator at Bastyr University and teaches PCC Kids Cook classes. At this month’s community kitchen, everyone will participate in cooking and eating:
• Johnny Cakes (cornmeal pancakes)
• Black Eyed Peas
• Braised Greens
• Sweet Potato Pie
The celebration takes place at Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC), 4649 Sunnyside Ave N, Room 140; it begins at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $9.99 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to Brown Paper Tickets.
This sounds like such a great kitchen — my favorite winter foods!
That menu is almost exactly what we had on New Years day! Happy New Year CK!
