It’s been two months since we toured Hamilton Middle School, the construction for which is scheduled to wrap up in July. Here’s the latest progress report from the construction company, with pictures:

Front lobby nearing completion
Equipment installation nearing completion in science lab
Gym flooring complete
As of the end of April, 2010, the framing and drywall installation in the Commons is complete and the final finishes are underway. In the kitchen, the floor tile installation is complete and equipment installation of the freezer, cooler and vent hoods has begun. Wainscoting (the installation of wall coverings) has also begun in the kitchen area.
In the historical main building, floor coverings (linoleum and carpet) installation is complete on the 3rd floor and nearing completion on the 2nd floor. Door and hardware installation is complete on both the 3rd and 2nd floors. On the 1st floor, painting, vinyl wall covering, wood trim, and the installation of electrical fixtures are nearing completion. Permanent lighting is in operation on all floors.
At the new gym, the interior painting is complete and the backstops and lights are installed. Terrazzo work in the gym lobby floor is complete. In the historical gyms, the contractor has begun drywall work.
Exterior stairs are complete and the sidewalks on the south and west side of the building are open to the public. Remaining walks and sidewalks are nearing completion.
This month, May 2010, the contractor will complete the finishes and hardware installation and all the floor coverings. The contractor will also complete the installation of the elevator, the telecom system and the gym equipment.

Yeah, pretty much. Both pulled from the same press release materials it looks like, which you can tell pretty easily if you’re a writer. One just happened to actually try to make it kind of a story, the other just reprinted a bunch of stuff. You can figure out which did which…

Anyway, I’m glad this project seems to finally be getting the hell done. I’m personally pretty sick of the noise and ugly construction crap.
