Mai Ling at our sister site Maple Leaf Life tipped us off to a Wallingford home that’s the Wall Street Journal’s “House of the Day” today. Click the image below to see a slideshow of the house at 4912 Wallingford Ave. N., with descriptions from the owners, who bought it only a year ago but have done a lot of redecorating.

  1. The first of Monday’s articles in the WSJ was full of mis-representations and total fabrications regarding the house and the previous owners design of the house and yard. They used personal and disparaging descriptions of the previous owner’s taste, eg: said it had an “amusement park” feel, said that the previous owners had a bathtub and urinal in the yard which they took with them when they moved , (total lie as there was never either of those in the yard), and commented on the wall color choices. After confronting the agents, current owners of house, and the WSJ, the description was changed although a few of the facts are still misrepresented. They have not done a lot of redecorating as they said. If fact, they have only re-painted one room, and perhaps 1-2 walls to “tone down the color” as they described. And the reason for their leaving the house- questionable, at best. There is no proof that the kitchen items were re-used from Boeing and WAMU, in fact the receiepts frm the orginal remodel show otherwise. It is not anymore “classic” now than it was 9 months ago when the house was sold- just a difference in the taste of furniture and a room and a wall of color. If this is the case, of course, anytime a new owner moves in, the home is “redecorated”.

  2. Asking price of $749,000. Plus, an industrial strength steel kitchen!

  3. Sink purchased at Seattle Rest. Store as stated on the receipt- it was a floor model -not Boeing.
Kithchen tile from Lake View Stone and Garden, also on receipt, not from WAMU building!
