If you want to do a little more than just wear green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Wednesday, we have a few local suggestions:
Pretty much every bar serves up lots of beer (sometimes green) and whiskey on March 17. But Murphy’s Pub doesn’t mess around when it comes to St. Paddy’s Day — the neighborhood institution will open at 9 a.m. and feature four musical acts over the course of the day: Carrigaline Irish Band, Dan Maher, SFF Pipes and Drums, and Irish Entanglement.
Blue Star Cafe and Pub will have Irish beers, green cocktails and popular Irish dishes.
Selena’s Guadalajara will have special St Patrick’s Mojito, plus beer and whiskey drink specials.
Fainting Goat Gelato will have special flavors: green apple (vegan sorbetto), green tea, Irish cream, and Guinness.
You can cash in on wearing St. Paddy’s color at Not a Number — all customers wearing green get 15% off any purchase.
Trophy Cupcake‘s chocolate Guinness stout with Bailey’s buttercream cupcake is a seasonal favorite and will be available through the end of the month. On Wednesday, all of Trophy Cupcake’s creations will be festooned with St. Patrick’s Day embellishments.
Essential Baking offers up its authentic Irish soda bread through March 17.
Mighty-O will have a green donut (made with enough green tea powder to add color, not flavor).
And two days after St. Patrick’s Day, join Wallingford Community Kitchen for a cabbage-and-potatoes feast; all food cooked and shared at the Wallingford Community Senior Center in the Good Shepherd Center. Think latkes and kimchee, not boiled potatoes and cabbage. RSVP here and see the ingredients list.
