Goldie’s, the Wallingford bar popular with sports fans, UW students, pool players, and dart throwers, is for sale. The listing agent, Mike Meade, posted the historic bar on Craigslist yesterday. The bar is offered for $189,500; the ad describes Goldie’s as:
Seattle’s Wallingford Districts longest established Bar & Grill. Nearly 1/2 century of history. 4000 square feet of games, dining and sports viewing on 20 tvs including 9 new big flatscreens and 2 huge projection screens. 4 pool tables, 5 electric darts and many popular video games. Enclosed beer garden. Seller will finance qualified buyer with 1/3 down payment. Shown by appointment.
Meade showed us the bar this morning and explained its historical significance — when it was established in the 1960s, as The Iron Bull, the tavern attracted a lot of students because bars weren’t allowed to open near the University of Washington campus.
Goldie’s has been closed for a week, in preparation for sale. If Goldie’s sells quickly, expect it to reopen a few weeks later, after the liquor license is transferred. If it takes a while to find a buyer, Meade said the owners will likely reopen the bar. You can reach him at (800) 427-7560 or (206) 369-0308.
