Updated 4/22: The strike ended this afternoon. If you had a trash pick-up that was missed today or yesterday, you can leave a double load next week at no extra cost.

Wondering why your garbage wasn’t picked up today? The haulers went on strike this morning.

From the Seattle Times:

Union garbage haulers went out on strike at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, culminating a three-week standoff with Waste Management. About 1 million customers in King and Snohomish counties could see their garbage pickups disrupted if the strike isn’t quickly resolved.

The City of Seattle said no garbage would be picked up for as many as 18,000 customers Wednesday. It advised residents whose collections are missed to put out garbage on their regular collection day next week. Recycling should not be affected, said Andy Ryan, spokesman for Seattle Solid Waste.
