What's on tap for Wednesday's ArtWalk/BeatWalk

The weather is going to be gorgeous for September’s Wallingford ArtWalk/BeatWalk, which is held the first Wednesday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m.

Here’s what’s going on:

KeyBank– featured artist for September is Sierra Logan. She recently moved her world headquarters from Florida to Seattle. She specializes in acrylic paintings and murals. Look forward to seeing a portion of her award-winning work when you visit KeyBank. She will be presenting her pieces personally.
Refreshments to be provided.

Cutz Meridian– Kathy Liao was born in Taiwan. She received a BFA from University of Washington and an MFA in Painting from Boston University.

“My creativity is fueled by direct observation. My work is driven by the fascination with perceptual and visual experience of light and space. I am constantly seeking new ways to create an illusionistic space through an exploration of of lines, shapes, color and through the visceral act of painting, scraping and collaging materials. I draw upon images of the people, objects, and places that I observe and identify with on a personal level. Specifically, I am drawn to experiences that tap into my cultural identity. These images and ideas are given substance and transformed through my painting and printmaking practices.

“My paintings can best be described as a collision of Pop Surrealism, Modernism and Illustration. Each painting contains multiple layers, each layer tells a story. I primarily work with oil paint. I never work with a model or photograph, preferring to work from distorted memories and precognitions. My process is intuitive. I do not pre-plan my paintings.”

Thrive– Sydney Palmer:

These watercolor paintings emerged from my love of the glorious colors and quirky shapes of vegetables. Their unending variety never fails to bring cheer. I am a local (Phinney Ridge) artist, and these images are all giclée prints of my original watercolor paintings. The word giclée comes from French and means”squirt, spray.” Giclée printing uses a high-resolution digital image and archival inks to produce excellent, highly nuanced art prints without having to make multiple color screens It is one of the newest forms of print-making.

Blue Star is featuring Cariña Booyens

Wine World – At Wine World, Warren Knapp’s giant Wine Bottle Paintings has been added to the revolving art on display in the store. Each painting is a 84″ high panel. He will have 5 bottles from his series adorning the walls of the largest wine store in the Northwest. Stop by 6 – 8pm and enjoy our complementary wine tasting while enjoying the art.

Seattle Mosaic Arts continues with a very successful showing of Gretchen Fuller’s mosaics. Traditional art form meets pop-culture iconography in Gretchen’s intricate and whimsical mosaics. Gretchen creates functional and decorative pieces that are both playful and challenging. If you didn’t get a chance to see the show in August, it has been extended for the month of August.
