Bicycle improvements coming to East Wallingford

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) today detailed plans for a new bike lane and sharrow on two one-way streets in east Wallingford to help bicyclists get to the Wallingford business district and the Burke-Gilman Trail.

This summer, SDOT will install an uphill bike lane on Latona Ave NE and downhill sharrow on Thackeray Pl NE and 2nd Ave NE between NE 45th St and the Burke-Gilman Trail. Bus service will not be affected and the corridor is not a designated freight route. A bicycle crossing improvement will be made at N 40th St and Latona Ave NE to help cyclists get across the intersection. Pavement repairs will be made on Thackeray Pl NE and metal drain grates will be replaced on Latona Ave NE  to better accommodate bicycle tires.

If you have questions about these changes or would like to be added to the project mailing list for future updates please contact SDOT at walkandbike@seattle.gov or by phone at 206-684-7583.
