This year, when the sun sets on the first Wednesday of October, it won’t mark the end of the Wallingford Art Walk season. The Art Walk, now in its third year, will run year-round, beginning May 5.

The three-year-old event has been so successful, co-director Colleen Kurke (who owns Cutz Salon and Gallery) told us, that it made sense to take it from 6 months to 12 months to keep up the momentum.

Co-director Alex Strazzanti (who owns Oasis Art Gallery) said the move to year-round Art Walks was based on feedback from customers and the featured businesses. “The first year we weren’t sure what the response and participation would be,” he said, hence the decision to combine the Art Walk with the farmer’s market, which runs every Wednesday from mid-May through late September. “Now that the Art Walk’s in people’s minds, we’re off and running,” Strazzanti told us. He expects at least 30 businesses to participate this year.

The Wallingford Art Walks will also continue to feature bands in the Wallingford Center plaza area, 12 months a year, regardless of weather. Businesses that want to participate in the Art Walk can find an application here.
