Calling all parents, future parents and North Wallingford residents who have strong opinions about playground structures! Next Tuesday, March 23, you’ll have an opportunity to help choose playground equipment for McDonald School at N. 54th St. and Latona.
The new equipment will join this structure, which was installed in 2009.
Here are details from Friends of McDonald School Project Coordinator Kathleen Ellsbury:
On March 23, 7-9 pm, the Friends of McDonald School will hold an open community meeting at Green Lake Elementary School to choose the type of playground equipment to purchase for the renovated McDonald Elementary School. Funding will come from two grants (Department of Neighborhoods Neighborhood Matching Funds Program and King County Youth Sports Facilities Grants Program), and from community members’ & employer donations. Seattle Schools will also provide support.
On April 27, 7-9 pm, another workshop, also at Green Lake Elementary, is scheduled, to select a design from one of several playground equipment vendors.
Later this spring Friends will recruit community volunteers to install the equipment under supervision. Installation is currently scheduled for June 26-27.
Community members are invited to all events. Persons who require accommodations for any of these events should e-mail McDonaldSchool@ gmail.com or contact 206-525-1566. For more details, see http://friendsofmcd onaldschool. blogspot. com or send e-mail to McDonaldSchool@ gmail.com.
