T. rex Live

Through June 10, 2018

Something BIG is happening at the Burke! Last summer, Burke paleontologists discovered a Tyrannosaurus rex—including the 15th T. rex skull discovered in the world.

Watch as Burke paleontologists carefully remove rock from the skull of this incredible, 66-million-year-old beast. More and more of the skull will be exposed each week, so come back often to watch the progress!

Construction is underway on the New Burke, a flagship museum of natural history and culture for Washington state opening in 2019. Unlike other museums, where the public is on one side of the wall and collections and research are on the other, the New Burke will invite you to see and be part of discoveries as they happen.

In Testing, Testing 1-2-3: Work in Progress, see the behind-the-scenes work of getting ready for the New Burke and get a sneak peek of objects coming out of storage for display in the new museum.
