What do beer and football have in common? Besides the obvious, they both mean traffic headaches.
To the east, Saturday’s University of Washington vs. California Golden Bears from 12:30 to 4 p.m. will make N. 45th St. busy most of the afternoon.
To the west (and slightly south), Fremont’s Oktoberfest will keep cars flowing steadily in and out of the area from 5 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Sunday. The Oktoberfest 5K on Sunday will also cause some tangles, as runners will start from 34th Avenue N and Fremont Avenue N., head east on 34th to N Pacific Street, then move east on Pacific to NE 40th Street, making a u-turn onto the Burke-Gilman Trail, where they’ll go south on the trail and finish at Phinney Avenue N.
And to the south, the Seahawks will go up against the Arizona Cardinals between 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. Expect heavy traffic on I-5, I-90, Alaskan Way Viaduct and surrounding streets before and after the game.

The Seattle Department of Transportation, “encourages event-goers to consider reducing the stress and environmental impact of driving their cars and try one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – Metro Transit, the West Seattle Water Taxi, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or even walking, if feasible.”
One way to miss all that traffic is to come to the Iron Bull to watch the Huskies.
