After a stunning defeat of Fremont last week, Wallingford is now beating the International District in the Seattle Weekly’s Neighborhood Snackdown Challenge. It’s the third Snackdown challenge, and our ‘hood is in the semifinals.
From Jay Friedman on the Seattle Weekly blog:
Wallingford as a winner of the Great Neighborhood Snackdown? Absolutely. After all, Wallingford has evolved from a neighborhood where families frequented pizza joints to a place where hungry hipsters enjoy fast-food and food-truck options to award-winning restaurants–and good dessert choices as frosting on the (sometimes provocative) cake.
Vote here soon; polls close today.
It's pretty safe to say that Wallingford pulling ahead has less to do with which 'hood has better cuisine, and more to do with demographics — Wallingford is full of rich white people who have time to vote multiple times, versus the ID is filled with working class immigrants who don't bother with such nonsense.
