Last night Wallingford Chamber of Commerce president Kara Ceriello shared some more information about this afternoon’s Wallingford sign lighting atop QFC.
It’s official: the return of a Holiday Lighting to Wallingford! Without the longtime annual Christmas tree lighting at Wallingford Center (the tree having been cut down a few years ago) heralding the start to the holiday shopping season, the Wallingford community was ripe for something new. Wallingford now highlights its increasingly fun, unique presence and its iconic Wallingford sign with a special new tradition: The Holiday Lighting of the Wallingford Sign, assisted by the Wallingford Green Carolers, Santa Claus, community leaders, Wallingford families, and more!
The new all-LED, energy efficient lights were custom-made for the Chamber and QFC, to fit each letter spelling WALLINGFORD on top of the Wallingford QFC at 45th and Wallingford Ave, by Green Man Holiday Lights. Green Man is a new project of Reed Painting, an environmentally-conscious Wallingford-based company. [Randy Reed is pictured here, behind the Wallingford sign.]
The festivities begin in the QFC parking lot at 4:00 p.m.; the sign, festooned with holiday lights, will be turned on at about 4:25, and the Green Carolers will sing at 4:30.
We’ve been unable to track down a picture of the tree that used to be lit up at Wallingford Center. Anyone have one to that we could post?
