9:30 a.m.: If you’re heading out of town or need to do some Thanksgiving shopping, N. 45th and N. 50th are in good shape. Now, getting there could be another story.

At QFC, workers told us they’ve had a crazy few days and expect today to be the same. Employees were busily stocking shelves when we were there this morning. Yesterday was slim pickins on the shelves because their usual morning shipment didn’t arrive till last night.

Don’t have a good sledding hill near you? Neighbors made their own:

7:00 a.m.: Seattle had a record-breaking cold temperature last night, at 14 degrees, which has kept the roads hazardous this morning. Today’s drill is the same as yesterday’s. To recap:

  • Seattle Public Schools are closed again today. No school and no activities.
  • Wallingford Boys & Girls Club is closed.
  • No residential garbage, yard waste or recycling pick-ups. If today is your collection day, you can put double the trash out next week.
  • Early this morning the University of Washington decided to cancel all classes. Essential services remain open.
  • Metro Transit is once again running on snow routes.

Our news partner The Seattle Times has a great story on why our fair city can’t handle snow.

And if you think drivers took some silly risks around Wallingford, check out pictures and videos from our sister site Queen Anne View of Queen Anne’s notoriously steep Counterbalance.
