Movie news: "Potter" fans line up, Uptown closing

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 opened late last night and many stood in line to see it at theaters around town.

The 11:59 p.m. showing at the Majestic Bay Theater in Ballard was sold out, our sister site My Ballard reported. Jared Rogers, who sent My Ballard this photo, said the line was around the corner. “Some waited nearly seven hours to secure their seats,” he said. “But despite the dropping temperature and light rain these Ballard Muggles got a show that inspired an applause at the end, and maybe even a second Halloween.”

Want to catch “Potter” close to home? It’s playing at the Metro Cinemas (4500 9th Avenue NE)  and Neptune Theatre (1303 NE 45th) in the University District.

In the mood for something more reality-based and want to stay in Wallingford? Consider “127 Days” at the Guild 45th (2115 N. 45th), starring Oscar nomination shoo-in James Franco (whom we’ve loved since his “Freaks and Geeks” days).

In other theater news, Queen Anne’s Uptown Theatre is closing on November 28, Queen Anne View reported this week. Read the full story here.
