Monthly Art Walk tonight, gets new leader

The monthly First Wednesday Wallingford Art Walk happens tonight, and it marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Art Walk founders and co-chairs Alex Strazzanti and Colleen Kurke will hand over the reins to Tara Shuttleworth after helming the walk for three years. “Three years is enough time,” Kurke said in an email. She’ll continue to serve on the board of the Chamber of Commerce and wrote, “Thank you for all the support the community and businesses have given to make this a great event in Wallingford!”

Tara Shuttleworth, an Art Walk volunteer since June and event coordinator, will chair the monthly walk. Shuttleworth told us that she plans to keep the walk on first Wednesdays, year round. Shuttleworth won’t run the show alone — she’s talking with two local artists and businesspeople to co-chair the walks.
