Fainting Goat Gelato in Seattle Times

When the temperature hits 95 degrees, as it did today, our thoughts turn often and ardently to ice-cold foods, and gelato is on top of that list.

Nancy Leson wrote up a tour of Seattle’s ice cream and gelato shops for our news partner The Seattle Times and she wrote glowingly of Wallingford’s Fainting Goat gelato:

Molly Moon’s gets all the glory, but this neighboring Wallingford cafe has its own fervent fan base. Yalcin and Sevim Ataman and daughters bring Turkish charm to the task of dispensing traditional Italian gelato (stracciatella) and sorbetto (including a potent pink grapefruit) along with their Turkish coffee. Choosing just one “favorite” flavor among the many (honey rose? salted caramel? banana split?) would be impossible, though their tart nonfat-yogurt gelato is so silkily sublime it’s capable of making this old goat faint.

Visit Fainting Goat at 1903 N. 45th St. See a great picture of the Atamans and which other stops Leson made on her tour in the full article.
