If our Twitter feed and Facebook friends are any indiction, an unbelievably mind-blowingly awesome thing happened yesterday, and a can’t-miss thing is happening Saturday. After a nail-biter win against Algeria, the U.S. soccer team plays Ghana in the World Cup, and could advance to the quarterfinals. The match begins at 11:30 a.m. and you can watch at many spots around Wallingford.

Over in Fremont, the curtain rises on the 18th season of Fremont Outdoor Movies on Saturday with two special guests. For the screening of the “Twilight” series’ second installment, “New Moon,” actresses Nikki Reed (Rosalie Cullen) and Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen) will do a meet and greet. Nothing here to get your engine going? The annual Greenwood Car Show revs up for its 18th year on Saturday as well.
The forecast says this nice weather will stick around through the weekend (high of 69 on Saturday; 70 on Sunday). Enjoy!
