Woman catches man trying to break into her home

A woman had a frightening encounter in the early morning hours of June 12 when a man tried to break into her home.  It happened in the 4200 block of Wallingford Ave.  The woman heard footsteps on her side deck and noticed that her side bedroom window was pushed in.  She called 911 just as she heard someone running down the side steps of the house.  A man then walked onto her front deck and looked at her through the window before he ran away.  Officers arrested a suspect nearby.  The man, who was drunk, told police he was from Bellingham and was supposed to be staying with a friend on Queen Anne.
