Lower Wallingford will host hundreds of runners and walkers this morning for the The Heroes Half Marathon, which begins and ends at Gas Works Park.
Two courses — a half-marathon and a 10K — take participants on a counter-clockwise path to the ship canal trail, the Burke-Gilman Trail and the trail around Lake Union before finishing at Gas Works.
This inaugural event benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event begins at 7:00 a.m. for adults, and a kids’ fun run — contained entirely in Gas Works Park — begins at 11:00 a.m.
