On Monday morning at 10 a.m. U.S. Senator Patty Murray will hold a press conference at Izilla Toys in Wallingford Center to address the subject of Wall Street reform.
Izilla owner Jude LaRene told us that his involvement in the event came about rather suddenly. “They called and asked if they could use our shop for a press conference,” he said. “I guess they were going to use Fuel, but it fell through at the last moment.”
LaRene and his wife and business partner, Jen Schneeweis, had spoken briefly with one of Murray’s staffers a few months ago about their trouble finding credit after the banking implosion. “I guess they remembered and want to use our story to illustrate the need for some Wall Street reform,” he said.
The press release says: “Senator Murray will discuss her priorities for Wall St. reform. And local families, seniors, and small business owners will tell their stories about how they were harmed by the irresponsible Wall St. practices that Senator Murray is fighting to end.”
And there's a music class at 10:30 there at Izilla for kids – so folks, don't attend thinking it's a lengthier discussion group with the senator. Thanks to MyWallingford for keeping us all up-to-date on the happenings at our Wallingford businesses!
