Starting today, the Teahouse Kuan Yin at 1911 North 45th Street will show intricate mosaic mirrors created by Angie Heinrich. Our introduction to her work was a charming mosaic penguin she made for last summer’s Woodland Park Zoo auction. The teahouse will feature about 10 pieces, the artist told us.

Heinrich has been creating mosaics since 1998. She says in her artist’s statement, “My passion for this ancient art form led me to study with masters in Italy, Spain, and the US, where I was instilled with a pride of workmanship and technique that is evident in each hand-crafted piece.”

Heinrich also teaches a monthly two-day class, from which students leave with a mosaic mirror they create in her Phinney Ridge home studio. For more information on the classes and Heinrich’s work, visit her web site.
