It was a great day on Sunday – perfect for the annual painting of the Wallybug at N. 49th St. and Burke.
Organizers took a chance on the weather and decided to wash the bug the same day as the painting. Generally the bath is given on Saturday, followed by the Sunday painting.
Several dozen neighbors gathered to help paint the six-year-old bug.
Even the kids picked up paint rollers and helped out.
After the painting, everyone enjoyed a great neighborhood potluck, which included a roasted pig that was cooked in a China Box while people worked.

These photos are “stock” from a previous painting. Nothing wrong with that. Only the folks who were there would know this. To see a really cool video of us painting the bug, go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
Hi neighbor! I took these pics on painting day 2011. See the kid in the big hat painting the green leaf? She didn't have that level of concentration in earlier years!
Thanks for linking to the time lapse video. Love that thing.
