Several Wallingford businesses and the Chamber of Commerce will take part in this year’s Family 4th at Lake Union. You’ll recall the Independence Day celebration at Gas Works was almost scrapped this year due to lack of funding. But nearly 300 businesses and individuals donated the funds so the show would go on. Below is a look at the Wallingford businesses taking part at the celebration at Gas Works, which will take place from noon to 11 p.m. on July 4:
Rocking Chair Races, hosted by Wallingford Chamber of Commerce: Compete in the races or buy a raffle ticket to win prizes from Wallingford area businesses with all proceeds from the event to benefit the Wallingford Community Senior Center.
Cakewalks, Hosted by Trophy Cupcakes: Kids 3-12 can participate in cakewalks held throughout the day for their chance to receive cupcakes. Random giveaways for grownups will also take place.
Dunk Tank, hosted by Not A Number Cards & Gifts: This year, Wallingford’s Not A Number Card & Gift store brings the dunk tank fun to the Family 4th.
Inflatable Sumo Wrestling, hosted by Fuerte Fitness: The Wallingford gym will bring inflatable sumo wresting to the park.
This year’s event will also feature a very special pre and post-fireworks show performance by one of Seattle’s hometown bands, The Presidents of the United States of America.
As for traffic control, SPD is working on a similar plan as last year that allows residential access only to the neighborhood. A map is being worked on and will soon be posted at family4th.org. A list of local businesses staying open late for anyone waiting for post-fireworks traffic to subside will also be posted on the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce website.
