Halloween: There's Spooky Fun For All Ages

With Halloween just around the corner it’s either time start scrambling to get your kid’s and/or your own costume pieces gathered, or if you’re hardcore, you are already diligently sewing together the finishing touches.

But what do you have planned? Where are you going to go show off your awesome disguises? Here are a few local events going on that are mostly family friendly:

SCARECROW VIDEO SCREENINGS

Where: Scarecrow Video Screening Room

When: The month of October

Cost: Free (concessions available for purchase at VHSpresso)

Join Scarecrow Video in their Screening Room the month of October for a different scary movie almost every night! These events are 21 and over (sorry kiddo’s).

WOODLAND PARK ZOO PUMPKIN BASH

Where: Woodland Park Zoo

When: Sat. & Sun., Oct. 18 – 19, 25 – 26, & 31 2014 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m

Cost: Free with Zoo admission

Watch hippos chomp, elephants smash, meerkats dig, and bears crunch their way through pumpkins and festive treats.

THE LICTON SPRINGS HALLOWEEN–TRICK OR TREAT IN THE PARK

Where: Licton Springs Park

When: Friday, October 31st (Halloween), from 4:30-6pm

Cost: Free (donations welcome)

Children follow the paths around the wetland where they meet Friends of the Forest (adults) holding jack-o-lanterns and giving candy treats to the young trick-or-treaters passing by. Donations made by the Community Council ensure there’s plenty of candy and cider for the many who attend. Volunteers welcome, contact Lictonsprings@hotmail for info or to volunteer.

THREE FEET OF SUNSHINE 6TH ANNUAL MONSTER BASH
Where: 4805 NE 45th St.(behind Seattle Children’s Hospital, across from Laurelhurst Park
When: Saturday, October 18, 2014 3 to 7 p.m.,rain or shine
Cost: $13
Susannah White’s Three Feet of Sunshine presents this annual festival with a hair-raising haunted house, pony rides, kids’ tunes, ghoulish games, prizes, creepy crafts, pumpkin decorating, a costume contest and a parade. Don’t miss the Yummy Mummy Cupcake Walk, delicious Halloween Trophy Cupcakes and two live performances by Recess Monkey (4 and 5 p.m.).
All proceeds go to benefit Seattle Children’s Pediatric Advanced Care Team.
Bring a new, unused costume for a Seattle Children’s Hospital patient and receive an extra special trick-or-treat.

TROLL-O-WEEN

Where: North End, under the Aurora Bridge..you know, where the troll is!

When: 7pm sharp

Please note that I could not find a current listing of this, but I am pretty sure it happens every year. Here is a post from a past event on the Fremont Arts Council Website. Please contact them if you want to make sure it’s happening this year.

KEXP HALLOWEEN KID’S DANCE PARTY

Where: EMP – Level 3 and Skychurch

When: Friday, October 31, 2014 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Cost: $12 (babes in arms admitted free)

Halloween Kids Dance Party hosted by John Richards, feat. The Not-It’s, DJ Riz, DJ Darek Mazzone, DJ El Toro.

The UW’s LITTLEFIELD ORGAN PERFORMANCE
Where: Walker-Ames Room, Kane Hall
When: Friday, October 31st
Cost: $15 (cash or check at the door)
Students of Carole Terry perform spooky organ classics—including Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor—on the UW’s Littlefield Organ.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME SALE @JONES PLAYHOUSE

When: Saturdays Oct. 11,18 & 25th 11am-5pm

Where: Jones Playhouse 4045 University Way NE

All proceeds to benefit the Professional Actor Training Program 2015 MFA Drama Showcase
