At approximately 11 a.m., the Seattle Police Department responded to a call from a King County Deputy who reported being stabbed in front of the Wallingford Center on 45th St.

According to King County Public Information Officer Cindi West, the deputy was responding to a call of a “sleeper” on the bench of the bus stop in front of the Wallingford Center. West says the deputy asked the sleeper to move on, and shortly after, the deputy was on the radio saying he’d been stabbed in the shoulder and the hand, and had the suspect at gunpoint.

At the scene, police had roped off the area directly surrounding the bus stop, where an out-of-service bus was stopped. On the ground were two large black garbage bags, a small briefcase, and two small knives. West said at least one of the knives belonged to the suspect.

A man, possibly the suspect, was being led to a police car shortly after 11 a.m.

West said the injured deputy is at Harborview Medical Center and is now in good condition. She says that when the call is made that an officer is injured, “everyone does their best to get here in a quick hurry. With everything that’s happened in this state in the last week, and the last few years, it’s heavy on our minds and we want to make sure everyone is safe and goes home at the end of the day,” added West.

  1. You could have thrown a police baton from the old Wallingford police precinct and hit the sleeper or was he a hibernator?  To bad they closed the old station house down.

  2. Thank you SPD and King County Police for protecting us from this scum and keeping our neighborhood safe!
