For the third year, Wallingfordian Rina Nicholson is selling her home cured olives to raise money for Women for Women International. “I like the idea that I do [an] individual project here which I enjoy and which I am fortunate to be able to do, and in so help another woman in need rebuild herself and her family in countries where freedom is not much of an option,” Nicholson says.
“Simply, I am originally from Israel, where olives are served on the table for every meal. Since I couldn’t find the style & flavor I like here, even in the middle eastern shops, I searched online and found out that I can buy fresh olives from California,” Nicholson tells us. “So I started to cure olives for my family, the way I used to do in my childhood in Jerusalem. Friends tasted and the feedback was great.”
The sale is this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4033 Eastern Ave N. Nicholson will have several different Middle Eastern flavors to choose from.
