Two Wallingford businesses will be recognizing Veterans Day tomorrow: Uptown Espresso has pledged to donate 100 percent of their Veterans Day revenue to the American Lake Veterans Golf Course, and Dick’s is offering free burgers to veterans.

From Uptown:

Uptown Espresso stands with you in gratitude for the service of our Veterans who defend our freedoms. By patronizing Uptown Espresso on Veterans Day, you will be contributing to the American Lake Veterans Golf Course which is making a significant impact in the rehabilitation of local Veterans. American Lake Veterans Golf Course is operated and maintained 100% by volunteers and nearly every dollar of contribution goes directly to the improvement and maintenance of the facility. Join us on Friday, November 11th, enjoy Uptown, and know that your purchase is going to a noble cause.
Our sister site, My Ballard, reported that the co-founder and president of Dick’s, Dick Spady, served in the military during two wars. “I served in the Navy in World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War. My wife was in the Navy when we met and now I have a granddaughter serving in the Navy. Our family holds a deep respect and admiration for our veterans and active military members. They deserve our recognition and gratitude,” Spady says.

From 10:30 a.m. until closing, veterans and active duty military can show any form of military identification or wear their military uniform for a free burger at any one of their six locations, including Wallingford.
